L1 Burst Fracture with Posterior Fixation

This exhibit consists of four illustrations. The first illustration is a sagittal view of the preoperative condition of the lower thoracic and upper lumbar spine. The burst fracture at L1 is clearly depicted. This illustration is based directly off of the radiology films, a print of the film is placed adjacent to the illustration. The second illustration shows the making of the 2 cm incisions in the back as the first step of the surgery. The third illustration portrays the placement of the pedicle screws into the vertebrae. The fourth illustration depicts the attachment of rods to the screws.
