This exhibit features two sagittal (side cut-away) views of the female pelvis comparing normal anatomy with the pre-operative condition. The first image will illustrates the normal structure and location of the vagina and the distal colon. The second image shows the condition following the hysterectomy with the upper vagina adherent to the rectosigmoid junction including a colovaginal fistula with colon contents spilling directly through a hole in the vaginal roof into the vagina.
