L3 Burst Fracture with Surgical Repair

This full color medical exhibit consists of six images depicting an L3 burst fracture with subluxation and the lumbar fusion surgery. The lumbar injuries are illustrated in three images: a silhouette male orientation figure, a lateral view of lumbar spine with burst fracture and loss of spinal curvature, and a sagittal view demonstrating subluxation and compression of the nerve elements. The key surgical steps illustrated include: A) midline incision for lumbar spine exposure and left posterior iliac crest incision for bone graft harvesting and B) decompressive L3 laminectomy and placement of hooks, screws, rods and bone graft. A lateral post-operative condition of the L1-L4 spinal fusion is also included.
