Surgical Repairs of the Right Ureter

ID: exh44308b
This medical exhibit demonstrates surgical repairs of a stricture to the right ureter. Image A shows a hockey stick incision created in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. Image B shows the open abdominal incision with the contents pulled medially. This exposes the ureter. Image C shows how the ureter is identified and the strictured portion resected. Image D details how the bladder is then brought in closer proximity to the now shortened ureter. The bladder is pulled up and sutured to the psoas muscle. In images E and F, the proximal ureter is sutured to the bladder and double J ureteral stent is placed.
