Total Laryngectomy and Transesophogeal Puncture

This top half of this exhibit illustrates the removal of the entire laryngeal complex with the initial incisions and then the pieces removed from the patient. The bottom half is dedicated to showing the puncturing of the trachea. This includes the insertion of the trochar through the trachea into the esophagus and the insertion and placement of the tube hardware. The final illustration shows how air is directed through the catheter when the stoma is covered.
