This medical exhibit shows a surgical fixation procedure performed to reduce a severe femoral fracture. Image A shows the incision made over the proximal limit of the greater trochanter of the femur. Image B shows an intramedullary nail hammered into place. Image C shows the placement of two interlocking screws into the femoral head. An interlocking screw is also shown placed in the distal femur. Image D shows the lateral incision as it is stapled closed.
