Surgical Repair of Displaced TMJ Meniscus
Surgical Repair of Displaced TMJ Meniscus

This stock medical exhibit begins with one small lateral silhouette view of the head and face revealing the skeletal anatomy of the skull and jaw. This image provides an overall orientation to the location of the right TMJ. A box is drawn around the TMJ region to correspond with the following enlarged surgical images. Next, two enlarged skeletal views of the TMJ will be created to illustrate the suture repair of the anteriorly displaced meniscus. The first image shows the loop or 'lasso' of suture inserted through the anteriorly displaced TMJ meniscus. The second image will show this suture tightened drawing the meniscus back into position.
