Traumatic Vaginal and Perineal Tears
Traumatic Vaginal and Perineal Tears

This medical exhibit begins with one perineal view of the female pelvis offering a view of the openings of the vagina and anus clearly showing the superficial perineal laceration. Also, one anterior cut-away view is included providing a more comprehensive view of the vaginal canal. This image clearly reveals the laceration of the right side wall extending up into the posterior aspect of the vagina. Paravaginal fat is shown protruding through this open wound. Finally, one sagittal (side cut-away) view is included. This image again reveals the tear of the vaginal wall, but also shows the serosal injury to the upper rectum.
