Intra-operative Uterine Perforation with Small Bowel Injury and Subsequent Complications
Intra-operative Uterine Perforation with Small Bowel Injury and Subsequent Complications

This stock medical ehxibit depicts an intra-operative uterine perforation with small bowel injury with subsequent peritonitis in a series of four illustrations. A side cutaway view of the normal pelvic anatomy with a tenaculum and a weighted speculum in place provides an orientation for the area of injury. Three detailed cutaway views of the uterus then show perforation of the uterine wall by a curette, extraction of the small bowel into the uterus and infection and infammation of the abdomen secondary to the bowel contents leaking from perforation site.
