This stock medical exhibit features one sagittal (side cut-away) and one axial (horizontal cut-away) view of the lumbar spine illustrating the pre-operative condition with a disc protrusion central and toward the left causing compression of the neural elements at the L5-S1 level. Next, four steps of hemilaminectomy decompression procedure are shown. Images include the posterior midline incision, dissection, removal of lamina bone, and removal of ligamentum flavum.
