Cervical Disc Injuries with Double Level Discectomy and Fusion Procedure

ID: exh74479b
This medical exhibit begins with one sagittal (side cut-away) view of the cervical spine illustrating the pre-operative condition. This image clearly reveals the annular tears and disc herniations at C4-5 and C5-6 and are based on the pre-operative MRI films. Also, the key steps of the double level anterior discectomy and fusion procedure are illustrated. These images include the anterior exposure of the cervical spine through an incision in the neck, the removal of the offending discs at C4-5 and C5-6 and the placement of the intervertebral cages and anterior fusion hardware. Finally, one lateral skeletal view of the cervical spine illustrates the post-operative condition revealing the fusion hardware in place.
