This medical exhibit begins with one sagittal (side cut-away) view of the female pelvis providing an overall orientation to the normal anatomy of this region. This side cut-away shows the proximity of the urinary bladder to the vagina and uterus. A box is drawn around the region of the bladder and vagina to correspond with the following enlargements that illustrates the progression of the post-operative condition: Initial post-operative condition with uterus removed and vaginal cuff closed with sutures. A segment of the posterior bladder wall is shown caught up in this sutures with clear distortion of this section of the bladder seen in this image.
