This stock medical exhibit features four lateral views of the right ankle. The first describes the immediate post accident condition, with a comminuted fracture of the calcaneal bone. The second shows the initial operative repair, in which a plate and screws are inserted to fix the fracture. The third image shows the second operative procedure, in which the painful hardware is removed. The final image describes the current condition, with degenerative arthritis of the ankle joint and partial tears of the peroneus and distal posterior tibial tendons.
