rnThis is a single board exhibit with a pre-operative condition and three steps of the subsequent discectomy.rnrnThe first group of images includes an orientation image of the full spine in a sagittal view with a box marking the area of injury, a sagittal film interpretation of the lumbar spine with the disc bulge at L4-5, and an inset of the actually film.rnrnThe other three images are of the resulting surgery. The first shows the area of the posterior incision at L4-5 to access the vertebrae. In the second image, the herniated disc material is removed. This removal of the disc is further demonstrated in the third image where electrocautery is used. This third image labels the main parts of the vertebra and disc.
